IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Georgia Mae
Shockey
December 13, 1933 – May 14, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Georgia Mae Shockey (nee Jones) of Severna Park, who left this world peacefully on May 14th, 2025. Georgia was a remarkable woman whose spirit and love for life touched everyone she met.
Born in rural Tennessee, Georgia was known for her fierce independence and unwavering loyalty to her family. Georgia moved to the Baltimore area to study nursing, where she met the love of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward F. Shockey, her brother J.P. Jones Jr., and a host of half-siblings and a cherished great-nephew. Despite these losses, Georgia's legacy lives on through her four nieces, three nephews, and a multitude of great-niblings, great-great-niblings, and even three great-great-great-niblings, all of whom she adored and cherished deeply.
Georgia had a passion for travel that took her to many corners of the world, but her heart found a special home in Italy and Spain, where she reveled in the culture, cuisine, and beauty of these vibrant countries. Her love for classical music and opera was profound, with a particular admiration for the tenor José Carreras, whose voice resonated with her soul.
Georgia's adventurous spirit and protective nature made her a beloved matriarch within her family. She was always there to lend a listening ear, offer sage advice, share a hearty laugh, or a glass of wine. Her warmth and kindness will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we remember Georgia, let us celebrate her life filled with love, adventure, and music. Her legacy will continue to inspire us to embrace our own journeys with the same passion and joy that she exemplified every day. We should all remember to live by her example of keeping a jar of peanut butter on hand, that way you can always have an easy meal.
In accordance with Georgia's wishes, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Georgia's memory, or take yourself out for a nice meal. It is what Aunt G would want.
