On January 16, 2009, George L. Wallace, Jr., 69, died of cancer, son of the late George L. Wallace Sr. and Ellenore Mullen Wallace, husband of the late Nancy Wiebking Wallace. Loving father of Kathleen Wallace Gardner and her husband Michael of Annapolis, Sharon Wallace Price and her husband Robert of The Woodlands,Texas, and Deborah Wallace of Seattle, Washington. Also, survived by five loving grandchildren, Maura and Michael Gardner, Riley, Cayden, and Brynn Price. Dear brother of Patricia Wallace of Abingdon, MD. Dear friend of Sylvia Thrower of Centreville, MD. Dear brother-in-law of Larry Walker. Also, survived by many loving cousins, other relatives and friends.
Graduating from Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore, he became a member of the first U.S. Coast Guard presence established in the new state of Hawaii and was stationed on the island of Kauai in 1959. After service in Hawaii, he returned to Baltimore and became an HVAC specialist. He retired as a master steamfitter in 2001. He enjoyed fly fishing and gave demonstrations of fly casting at the annual Easton Waterfowl Festival. He was a member of the American Legion Kent Island Post and participated in many activities there. He was also a crossword puzzle and suduko enthusiast, enjoyed staying in touch with his family and friends via his laptop computer and loved the peace of fishing along the Maryland and Delaware shores, rivers and ponds.
Family and friends may call at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park, on Thursday, January 22 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm.
Interment will be private.
