George Sobeck, 76, a resident of Arnold, died on November 11, 2011, at his home.

He was born on May 6, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA. His past residences include Iran, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Europe and the Caribbean, moving to Arnold in 1981.

Mr. Sobeck served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He had a career with NASA and Westinghouse as a Radar Engineer, and later worked as a school bus driver for special needs children.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Fadwa Sobeck, who died in 2009, and three sisters, Mildred Sykes, Aurelia Conlon, and Theresa Cassidy.

He is survived by his wife, Amina Sobeck of Arnold; one son, Alexander George Sobeck of Arnold; one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Sobeck of Falls Church, VA; one brother, Edward H. Sobeck of Lemont, IL; and two sisters, Dorothy Miller of Egg Harbor City, NJ and Rita Hathaway of Hillsboro, OR.

Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Annapolis, MD.
