Severna Park, Md. – George (Buddy) Shoemaker, age 86, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 22, 2010, at The HouseHold of Angels in Severna Park, Md.
He was born on August 28, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pa. He was a veteran of World War II, served in the Navy, and retired as an Air Force Master Sergeant. He later worked for the Defense Communications Agency where he supported NASA's Gemini and Apollo programs including the historic Apollo 11 moon landing. For the last 45 years, he has
lived in the areas of Oxon Hill, Annapolis and Severna Park. He loved dancing, collecting Rockwell figurines and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Alice Marie Shoemaker. He is survived by one daughter, Sheila Light of Pasadena, Md. and one son, Danny Shoemaker of Fenton, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Friends may visit from 6-8 pm on Thursday, 3/25 at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, 3/26 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Severna Park followed by a burial service at the MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Md.
