George D. Sherlock died in his sleep at his Arnold home the morning of February 19, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marlene, his daughter, Debbie Rillon and his grandson, Matthew Rillon; a brother, Edward Sherlock and a sister, Jane Benson.
George was born and raised in Annapolis. At 16 he fulfilled his life's ambition and became a volunteer with Waterwitch Hook & Ladder Co. #1 and officially became a paid Firefighter by the age of 21. He loved the work and the brotherhood of his fellow firemen. He retired from the Annapolis Fire Department after 33 years of service. He then joined the Anne Arundel Medical Centers security team. He worked there for 10 years before he was forced to retire.
He was a member of the Elks for 36 years and a member of the Sons of the American Legion for the past 10 years. He was a die-hard Redskins fan, but had gotten the Raven bug since they came to town. Recently he became an avid Nascar fan due to his Grandson, Matthew's love of Jeff Gordon; and it quickly became the main topic of conversations at Sunday dinners.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 11am-12pm, with a Memorial Service to follow at noon at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
