George T. Moran, 70, of Queenstown, MD, died suddenly December 26, 2013.
Originally from Washington, DC, he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and the University of Tampa and served an active duty stint with the Marine Corps Reserve. A noted businessman and philanthropist in Anne Arundel County, he founded Moran Insurance in 1977 and was the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for contributions to the community.
Among the organizations closest to his heart were the Providence Center, the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce, and Anne Arundel Health System where he chaired the Board of Trustees. He was an avid scholar, boater, golfer, pilot, and adventurer.
He is survived by his loving partner, Terry Doggett; his brothers Ferd Moran, John Moran, and Robert Moran; his children G. Thomas Moran, Jr., Susan Moran Arangio, and Jennifer Moran Krepp; and ten grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at Annie's at Kent Narrows, 500 Kent Narrows Way North in Grasonville, MD, on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 3-6 PM.
