It pleased the Almighty God on November 7, 2009, to remove from earthly labor to rest and into his closer presence George Haase Manning Sr., 81 of Centreville, formerly of Severna Park. George died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 14, 1928 to the late William P. Manning and Lillian Powell Manning. George married Madeline Beall December 2, 1950 and has three children.

Mr. Manning proudly served in the United States Army and was a retiree of The International Harvester Company where he was employed for 30 years.

George was an active member of the Severna Park Elks Lodge, giving his time, talent and service for many years. He served as Esquire and was a two time Elk of the Year honoree.

George enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, shooting pool and watching sports, particularly the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. George lived "A Good Life".

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Madeline Beall Manning of Centreville; two daughters, Sharon Manning of Severna Park, Deborah Lyons George of Stevensville; and one son, George Manning Jr. and his wife, Lisa Straight Manning of Severna Park; two grandchildren, Lindsay Manning and Tyler Manning of Severna Park; and a sister, Betty Dyson and brother-in-law, Jack Dyson both of Centreville.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, November 11 and Thursday, November 12 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.
