George Arthur Foote passed away suddenly on May 31, 2024. He was 74.

George was born on June 7, 1949 to his parents Herbert W. Foote and Gertrude (née Paulding) Foote in Rockland, Massachusetts. He grew up in Massachusetts and Maine, and attended Whitman-Hanson Regional High School and then he served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1968 to 1971. After returning home, he went on to graduate from Suffolk University in the class of 1975. George met the love of his life, Susan, while playing tennis and the two were married in the Spring of 1989.

George had a passion for educating others about wine. He worked in the wine industry as a National Wine Director for Beaulieu Vineyards and later as a National wine educator for St. Michelle Wine Estates and after retiring, he began Last Drop Wine Consulting. George was a member of Mid-South Club in Southern Pines, NC and Bay Hills Golf Club in Arnold, MD.

George loved food and wine, and entertaining and teaching others about wine. He was an avid golfer and tennis player, and a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, and a lover of animals, especially his third Dalmatian, Lucy.

George is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Susan McClay Foote of Severna Park, MD; his nephew Adam Foote of Collierville, TN; his nieces Diana Foote Barzizza of Memphis, TN and Amy Foote of Memphis, TN; his sister Marilyn A. Foote of South Yarmouth, MA; and his beloved Dalmatian, Lucy.

A celebration of George's life will be held privately.
