George Michael "Mike" Chaney, beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away on Wednesday, February 21st, 2024 at the age of 65 at BWMC, in Glen Burnie, MD.

Mike was born on September 30th, 1958 in Prince George's county Maryland to the late George and Jaqueline Chaney. Jaqueline remarried later to John Petrakis.

George had been married to his wife Patricia for almost 40 years.

George worked in the construction industry for many years. One of the most recent being a consultant for the Maryland state highway administration. Many who have worked with him remember him as a man who worked very hard and always got the job done. He much appreciated his time with TSI, Rommel, and Simpson.

Mike was considered a stubborn "gentle giant" and would help out any friend in need. He had a love for watching football with his sons, looking at cars with Maggie, going to ocean city with Kayla, and having crabs in the summer with his family. He was always so proud of the accomplishments of both his sons and his face would light up when he saw his granddaughters, who brought him so much joy.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Chaney, his sons Christopher Chaney (his partner Natalie Baron), Scott Chaney (his partner Sara Day), two beautiful granddaughters Kayla Chaney and Maggie Belle Chaney, and sister Robin Helwig and her husband Frank and 3 brothers Thomas, Danny, and Jimmy Chaney.

He is preceded by death by his parents Jaqueline Chaney, George Chaney, John Petrakis and His brother Jeff Petrakis.

George "Mike" will be missed by many.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday March 2, 2024 from 12:00pm-1:00pm with a service to follow at 1:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146.
