George Walker Brown, II passed away on March 9, 2016 of lymphoma. Born on December 29, 1932 in McKeesport, PA, he was a graduate of McKeesport High School and studied at Penn State for two years. He then joined the Army and served in the post-World War II occupation forces in Germany and during part of the Korean War.
After an honorable discharge, he began working at the McKeesport Daily News, where he met his future wife, Joanne Mitchell Wood. They married on July 10, 1957 and had two children, Scott Walker Brown and Natalie Joy Brown. George Brown spent fifteen years as an ad man in advertising agencies in McKeesport and Pittsburgh before becoming a convention and account manager at Building Owners and Management Association (BOMA) in Washington, DC. He moved his family to Annapolis in 1976. He established his own public relations firm in Arnold, MD in the late 1980s and retired from that in 2002.
He is survived by his son, Scott Brown, and daughter, Natalie McKnight, and his son-in-law Jamie McKnight, granddaughters Emily and Annie McKnight, and nieces Deborah Kapp and Bobbi Kapp Lennon, as well as numerous cousins.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, April, 2 2016 from 4 - 6 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hospice of the Chesapeake would be much appreciated by the family.
