George Benjamin Bowen, 80, of Severna Park, passed away at Sunrise Assisted Living in Severna Park on June 13, 2010 after a brief illness.
George was born on April 11, 1930 in Baltimore. He lived in New York and Calvert County, before residing in Glen Burnie for fifty years, where he raised his family.
Mr. Bowen owned a small franchise with Arnold Bakers, farmed part-time, and was employed with the United Parcel Service. Mr. Bowen served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Bowen is survived by his wife, Jane of Severna Park; his daughter, Judy Bowen of Millersville; his son, Mark Bowen of Silver Spring; as well as, two grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Bowen. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Donald Bowen.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, June 18, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:00am with the interment to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
