Genevieve Catherine Ostrowski White, 88, a resident of Arnold for 80 years, died February 11, 2008 at Milford Memorial Hospital in Milford, DE of natural causes after a brief illness.

Mrs. White was born in Baltimore, MD on September 19, 1919 to Stanley and Catherine Ostrowski. In 1927 her family purchased a farm from the family for which the Arnold area is named. She has resided on part of that property continuously since that time.

Mrs. White graduated from Annapolis Senior High School in 1938.

Mrs. White retired from Anne Arundel County Public Schools in 1978 after 30 years as a cafeteria manager at Belvedere Elementary.

Mrs. White was a longtime community volunteer who also loved to travel and dance. She and her husband combined that love with a trip to Hawaii with the polka band the Brass Works.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William R. White who died on August 6, 2003; her brothers Adam and Stanley (Jim) Ostrowski and a sister, Eva.

Survivors include her son, Robert S. White of Harrington, DE; one daughter, Linda C. Kurpjuweit of Millsboro, DE; daughter-in-law Gloria J. White; son-in-law John R. Kurpjuweit; granddaughters Cynthia Yedlowski and Roberta White; great-grandson John Singletary and great-great granddaughter Savannah Sky Singletary.

Visitation will be from 1 PM-3 PM and 5 PM –7 PM on Friday, February 15, 2008 at Barranco Funeral Home in Severna Park, MD. A service will be held at Barranco & Sons Funeral Home at 12:30 PM on. Saturday, February 16, 2008. Burial will be private.
