Gene Raymond Routt, 82 passed away Saturday, October 7th, 2023, at his home in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Gene was born January 19th, 1941, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of Raymond John Routt and Louis (Becker) Routt.

Gene is survived by his wife of 63 years, Yetive "Mitzie" Dawson Routt, 2 daughters Yetive (Routt) Delaney and her husband Ned, Cindy (Routt) Reinhart and her husband Brad; four grandchildren, Cynthia (Delaney) Phillips, her husband Hunter of Berlin MD, Dawson Delaney, Brennan and Peter Reinhart; and a great grandson Carter Ray Phillips.

As a man of exemplary character, Gene started working at an early age stocking shelves for Clif Dawson. His loyalty and work ethic soon moved him into managing the business. After marrying Mitzie, they took over the family business and then spent their lives working alongside one another to become successful business owners and operators in the heart of Severna Park Maryland.

Those who knew him will never forget his influence on their lives. Gene was grateful for the mentors in his life that led to his success whether it be business or personal, that it became his mission to share the wisdom. So many lives were directly impacted by Gene's selfless help and influence. He was known to put others before himself and was so often heard chatting on his phone giddy with excitement to hear about others' success stories. He was dedicated to his church, he loved working around the house, showing off his flower gardens, and of course, his '56 Chevy.

As we say our final goodbyes to Gene, let us remember the character traits that made him so special. Let's carry these qualities forward in our own lives while ensuring his legacy lives on in the way we treat others. We all need more people in our lives like Gene Routt.
