On December 23, 2024, Gates Trotter Horsburgh, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went to heaven to be with his Lord and savior. Gates was married to his beautiful bride Kay Horsburgh (Unger) for 60 years; together, they had 4 children: Randall Horsburgh (and his wife Dawn Horsburgh), Michele Carter (Horsburgh) and her husband Robert Carter), David Horsburgh, and Gregory Horsburgh (and his wife Michelle Horsburgh). Gates's most treasured joy in life was his family, and he was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

Gates was a metallurgist and was a superintendent of a small casting foundry at Koppers. He consulted nationally and internationally into his retirement for his unique ability to cast highly volatile substances.

Our family feels a deep sadness over this loss but also a great joy knowing our dad is healed in heaven and we will see him again.
