Frederick A. Schnurr, 88, of Doylestown, PA, formerly of Annapolis, died Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Doylestown Hospital.

Born in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late Frederick F. and Julia (Forier) Schnurr.

Mr. Schnurr is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, class of 1944, where he played football and received two varsity letters with stars.

In World War II, he served as Naval Officer aboard the USS Minneapolis in the South Pacific until its conclusion. He was a Trustee Emeritus of the Naval Academy Foundation and the President of the Alumni Class of 1944.

Mr. Schnurr was a retired Sales Executive for the 3-M Corporation. His passions were golf, bridge, singing with the St. John the Evangelist choir for 26 years and Navy Football.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Jane Pfeiffer Schnurr to whom he was married for 22 years and his first wife and mother of his children, the late Patricia Drake Schnurr to whom he was married for 30 years. He is also pre-deceased by one sister Teresa Franklin.

Mr. Schnurr is survived by his daughter Julia S. Curtin of Doylestown, PA, sons Frederick Schnurr of Astoria Park, NY, Robert Schnurr of Alexandria, Va. and James Schnurr of Cleveland, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Donald Curtin, III, Elizabeth Curtin Magarity, Matthew and Patricia Curtin, Tatiana and Verena Schnurr and Jennifer, James and Michael Schnurr, three great grandchildren, Dorothy and Spencer Curtin and Katherine Magarity and one sister, Helen Swenson of Tucson, AZ.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 5, at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Severna Park, MD.

The family will be greeting friends at the Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the Mass. Inurnment at the Naval Academy Columbarium will take place immediately following the Mass.
