Frederick E. Harr, 78, of Columbia, died of pneumonia Oct. 4 at Brighton Gardens of Columbia Way in Columbia.
A veteran who served in the Navy for 30 years, he fought in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. After retiring from the military, he worked at E.G. & G. and for Old Dominion University.
Born May 7, 1928, in Massillon, Ohio, he earned an associate of arts degree from Montgomery College. Previous residences included Norfolk, Va., Rockville, San Pedro, Calif., Tacoma, Wash., Ankara, Turkey, and Copenhagen, Denmark.
He enjoyed cooking, bird watching and dogs.
His wife, Martha Jean Hosletter Harr, died in 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan C. Carter of New York and Marianne Harr Nogle of Laurel; one son, Fred Harr of Annapolis; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Harmony Chapel Cemetery in Port Deposit. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, 1815 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403, or an SPCA of one's choice.
