Frederick John Gage

Frederick John Gage, 70, a longtime resident of Arnold, died on September 2, 2008 at Anne Arundel Medical Center due to complications of chronic kidney failure.

Mr. Gage was born on May 26, 1938 in Manchester, NH, where he was also raised. He lived in several places across the country, but settled in Arnold twenty four years ago.

Mr. Gage was a retired district sales manager who won many awards over his professional career. He worked for Federal-Mogul (formerly Champion Spark Plug Company) for 43 years. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was involved in the early development of Para-Commander Parachutes for the Army.

Mr. Gage was a member of Belvedere Yacht Club, Aircraft Owners Pilot Assoc., and the Experimental Aircraft Assoc. He enjoyed flying, boating, fishing, yard sales, and tinkering with engines. He loved camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Mr. Gage is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jacqueline M. Gage; his son, David M. Gage of Arnold, MD; his daughter, Kathleen G. Smith of Arnold, MD; three sisters, Teresa Schmidt of Burlington, MA, Regina McGrail on Manchester, NH, and Susan Grotheer of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers, Philip Gage of Colebrook, NH and Richard Gage of Bedford, NH; and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gage.

Friends and family may visit at the Barranco & Sons, P. A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Neumann in Annapolis on Monday at 10:00 am. The interment will be private.
