Frederick F. Broglie Jr., 83, a resident of Arnold for 54 years, died of complications from cancer Oct. 25 at home after a lengthy illness.
Born and reared in Baltimore, Mr. Broglie graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and worked at the Maryland Dry Dock shipyard repairing warships for several years until the end of World War II.
Mr. Broglie later retired in 1984 from the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company, where he worked for nearly 40 years.
A former president of the Mago Vista Civic Association, he volunteered in the community and his interests included participating in soccer, softball and bowling.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Bessie Gardner Broglie; two sons, Donald F. and Robert J. Broglie, both of Arnold; one sister, Mary Lou Kline of Baltimore; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Francis Broglie Sr., George Broglie and John Broglie Sr.
Memorial services will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Interment is private.
