Fred C. Maddens, 83, a long time resident of Millersville, died on April 14, 2010.
He was born on April 15, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, where he was raised, and graduated from Wayne University in Detroit.
Mr. Maddens served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945 and continued to live in Detroit Michigan. He married Jean Marilyn Lawrence in 1946. He came to Washington DC and the Maryland area in 1959 and married Lillian Sue Newman in 1975.
He worked as a Tech Writer for Holley Carburetor, was a Zone Sales Manager for Ford Motor Company, then a Retail Automobile Sales Manager and a franchised Chevrolet Dealer.
Mr. Maddens enjoyed woodworking, furniture making, golfing, and reading history. He was a member of the Glen Burnie Moose and American Legion Post 40 in Glen Burnie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Sue Maddens, who died in 2005.
Survivors include his sons, David Maddens of Round Hill, VA and Robert Maddens of Niceville, FL; daughters, Cynthia Pease of Fairfax, VA, Nancy Maddens of Winston Salem, NC, Janet Stinnett of Columbia, MD, and Phyllis Clark of Thousand Palms, CA; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Irma Thomas of Mt. Clemens, MI and Evonne Bateman of Fort Meyers, FL; and his dog, Boomer.
There will be a Memorial Visitation on Friday, April 23, 2010 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm
at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park, MD, with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a children's organization of one's choice.
