Franklin Milburn Machen Sr., 84, passed away on October 17th, 2023 after a 4-month battle with cancer. Frank was surrounded by his loving grandchildren and passed away pain free. Frank was born March 10th, 1939 to the late Noble Grant Machen and Catherine Anna Smith. He had an older sister Wallis Windsor falconer who is still living in Virginia Beach, Virginia and a younger brother, Carl Grant Machen (predeceased) of Baltimore Maryland.

Frank spent his whole life living in and around baltimore. He loved his city and especially his Orioles and Ravens he never missed a game. Frank married his high school sweetheart Estelle Virginia Gilley and they had three beautiful children together.

At 18, Frank went to work for Triangle Sign Company, where he worked as a serviceman, repairing signs on the streets of the city he loved. Frank went on to serve in many positions in every department of the company, eventually being named a Vice President handling purchasing and personnel. Frank's most notable and proud achievement  was being the project manager on the scoreboard clock still hanging to this day at Camden Yards. Later in Frank's career he settled in for the past 20 years as a senior project estimator. He enjoyed crunching the numbers and knowing all of the fine details that every project required to be completed effectively. Frank would say it takes someone knowing where every bolt needs to go and every inch of material needed to get the job done right. Frank served under three generations of bosses during his time at Triangle and he had more time in the sign business than any other person there, by roughly 20 years. Frank was employed with Triangle up to the day he passed.

When not working, Frank enjoyed Boating in his younger years, traveling to many destinations around the Bay. Frank spent forty years as a member of the Elks Lodge 2266 serving in various roles. He truly enjoyed hosting and attending social events with friends and family. He could always be the life of the party wherever he was! Frank was a collector of many things, to include his prized nutcracker collection and a collection of coins spanning the last 100 years.

Frank was an avid player of the Maryland lottery and never met a lottery game he didn't like! Frank would pass the time at the bar playing keno and quick pick games then grab some scratch offs to take home and play while watching the ball game. A two time winner of tickets hitting for more than twenty thousand dollars, Frank knew how the system worked, keeping every losing scratch off ticket for the past 20 years, to offset the winnings when he filed his taxes!

What Frank enjoyed most in his later years was his routine, to go to work in the morning and do laps around the factory floor to catch up with everyone and stay up to date with all of his coworkers, then stop by the bar on the way home to catch up with friends and return home to have a nice meal and relax watching whichever of his teams may be playing that night.
Any time you called Frank to check in or just chat, you would always be greeted with his coined "how the hell are ya" and the conversation would end with "tell everybody I love them"

Frank is predeceased by Estelle and their children Nancy Dale Jones, Michael Allen Machen and Franklin Milburn Machen Jr. As well as two of his grandchildren, Virginia June Arrington (Nancy) and Macey Marie Machen (Franklin Jr.). Frank is survived by six grandchildren; Four of Nancy's children, Danny Dula Jr and Karen Dula of Charlotte North Carolina, Sarabeth Kennedy of  Emmitsburg Maryland, and Britney Swain of Chambersburg Pennsylvania, Two of Michael's children; Rebecca Cummings of Asheville North Carolina and John Machen of Millington Maryland.
