Francis X. "Frank" Singleton, 71, a resident of Pasadena for 30 years and formerly of Glen Burnie, died of cancer Dec. 17 at home after an eight-month illness.
The son of the late John and Mary Singleton, Mr. Singleton was born March 13, 1935, in Baltimore where he graduated from Calvert Hall College high school. He earned a master's electrical license and served in the Naval Reserve.
He was the owner of Maryland Pump, Tank and Electric Co. in Baltimore and a member of the Baltimore County Electrical Contractors Association, where he served on the board of directors and was president. He was also a member of the Anne Arundel County Electrical Contractors, Carroll County Association of Electrical Contractors and Associated Builders and Contractors.
He was elected to the board of directors for both the ABC for the state and for the city of Baltimore, and was appointed an electrical legislative spokesman.
An active member of the Petroleum Equipment Institute, he served on its board of directors, was a charter member of the Maryland Department of Environment's Committee on Underground Tank Installation and president of the Group 10.
Beyond his professional memberships, he was the first president of the Catholic Youth Organization and a communicant of Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church. He was involved with the Gibson Island Country School's board of trustees, Calvert Hall Alumni Association, Elks Lodge 1270, Knights of Columbus, Antique Truck Club of America, Good Samaritans Club, AARP, Ducks Unlimited, American Legion, Maryland Yacht Club, Maryland Saltwater Sports Fishermen's Association, Maryland Watermen's Association and the Marley Boat Club.
He served as vice president for the Pasadena Sportfishing Group, was a committee member for the Coastal Conservation Association and a charter member of the 100 Club of Anne Arundel County.
His interests included antique cars and trucks, boating and fishing.
Surviving are four sons, Timothy F., James T. and Scott J. Singleton, all of Pasadena, and Stephen M. Singleton of Denver, N.C.; one daughter, Jennifer S. Wittlinger of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Jane Gutridge of Baltimore and Rosemary Sapp of Sykesville; two brothers, Paul Singleton of Pasadena and Robert Singleton of Annapolis; and five grandchildren. He was the father of the late Cynthia A. Singleton, who died in 1980, and brother of the late Jack and George Singleton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church, 8325 Ventnor Road, Pasadena. Burial will follow in Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church, 8325 Ventnor Rd, Pasadena, on Saturday at 11am. Interment at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
