Frank Michael Oslislo, 63, of Arnold and the Broadneck Peninsula area for 28 years, died of cancer after a lengthy illness and valiant fight on Oct. 16.
Mr. Oslislo was born February 22, 1945 in Reading, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Millersville University, where he played varsity basketball. Throughout his life, Mr. Oslislo was very active playing basketball, tennis and cycling.
He joined the Navy after graduation and achieved the rank of lieutenant commander. He retired after 20 years serving in Vietnam, San Diego and various other ports completing his career at the US Naval Academy.
After he retired from the military, Mr. Oslislo had a distinguished career working for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for 28 years. He served as the legislative liaison representing DNR to the Board of Public Works, in addition to other administrative functions. His love of nature carried over to his private life and was apparent in his passion for bird watching, gardening and the Bay.
Mr. Oslislo enjoyed watching Naval Academy sports of all types. He was closely associated with the basketball and football teams where he served as a timekeeper and spotter respectively.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy Oslislo, whom he married on June 1, 1968; a daughter Careé Oslislo Wizenberg of Washington, D.C. and a son, Scott M. Oslislo of Bel Air, MD. He is also survived by four sisters, Joan Brown of Bronx, NY, Barbara Morrow of Reading, PA, Kay Artz of West Lawn, PA and Ann Oslislo of Pequea, PA; and three grandchildren, Timothy Oslislo, Megan Oslislo and Hannah Oslislo all of Bel Air, Maryland.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 2- 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.at the Barranco and Sons Funeral Home on 495 Ritchie Highway. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at Saint Andrews by the Bay.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kimmel Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Medicine, 100 N. Charles Street, Suite 234, Baltimore, MD 21201; Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, Maryland 21401; or the U.S. Naval Academy Athletics Association, Ricketts Hall, 566 Brownson Road, Annapolis, Maryland 21402.
