Francis (Frank) Sevec, 88, of Severna Park, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 at Heartlands senior living community.  Born in Pittston, Pennsylvania and son of the late Andrew and Matilda (Zarichak) Sevec, he was a loving husband to his wife Helen (Swanner) for over 50 years.

Following high school, Frank joined the United States Navy where he served his country from 1952 – 1956, partially during the Korean War.  Frank enjoyed his time in the military, most proudly serving as a crew member aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVB/CVA/CV-42), the second of three Midway-class aircraft carriers that spent most of her active deployed career operating in the Mediterranean Sea as part of the United States Sixth Fleet.

In 1960, Frank joined the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company in Baltimore, Maryland as a proud UFCW member where he was employed until he retired in 1990.  Frank and Helen moved to Severna Park, MD in 1967 where they raised their two sons (Ken & Doug) and became members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish.  Frank enjoyed his life as a loving spouse, father and grandfather to his family.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife Helen, brothers Andrew and Jack (John), and sister Monica.  His is survived by his sons Kenneth (Jen) of Crofton, MD, and Douglas (Maureen) of Gambrills, MD.  He is also survived by sister Mary Ann (Bozym) of Leola, Pennsylvania.  He leaves his 5 grandchildren Kieran, Bridget, Amelie, Maeve and Corinne.  Frank is also survived by several generations of nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit on Friday April 19, 2019 from 10:00am - 11:30am with a service to begin at 11:30am in the Barranco & Sons,P.A, Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment to follow in the MD Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD.
