Francis Xavier Filardo, 45, a resident of Severna Park since 1989, died May 1 at Severna Park Center, Genesis ElderCare Network, of complications of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered more than four years ago.
Born Oct. 22, 1959, in Englewood, N.J., and the son of Emelia G. and Francis A. Filardo of Lakewood, N.J., Mr. Filardo was reared in Mahwah, Bergen County, N.J. He graduated from Lafayette College with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and earned a master of business administration degree from the University of Florida and a master of science degree from the Whiting School on Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
He worked at the former Westinghouse Corp., now known as Northrup Gruman, where he traveled extensively and was a director on the F-16 Radar Systems Program. He later moved to Fort Walton Beach, Fla., where he worked at Eglin Air Force Base for five years.
Among his interests were sailing and living in the waterfront home he and his wife designed.
In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife, Kathleen Denise McGee Filardo, whom he married June 9, 1984; one son, Anthony W. Filardo, and one daughter, Alexandra F. Filardo, both of the home; one brother, Damian M. Filardo of Flemington, N.J.; and one sister, Andrea A. Kowalski of Bel Meade, N.J.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Burial is private.
