Frances Anne Bauer, 57, of Arnold, died Feb. 8 at her home. The cause of death is not available.

Mrs. Bauer was born Aug. 24, 1947, in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of Frank J. Wojcicki of Catonsville and the late Joanna Wojcicki.

She attended Severna Park High School and graduated from the University of Maryland College Park in 1969 with a bachelor of science degree in psychology and zoology. In 1995 she received her master of education degree in guidance and counseling from Loyola College of Maryland. She was a member of Chi Sigma Iota fraternity and the American Counseling Association.

She worked for several area schools as a biology teacher, sharing her love of science with her students. After receiving her master's degree, she was a school guidance counselor.

A volunteer, she was on the provisional committee for the Junior League of Annapolis and was an instrumental member in forming the local chapter in 1980. She served as its corresponding secretary, nominating chairman and public affairs committee chairman.

Mrs. Bauer also was vice president of the Jones Elementary School PTA and president of Woods Adult Day Care Center. She volunteered at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels, Girl Scouts, Green Hornets, Hands on Science, Maryland House and Garden Tour and Glen Oban Community Association.

Her hobbies included playing bridge, boating, painting, entertaining, reading and traveling with her family.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dr. Valentine R. Bauer; three children, Andrew T. Bauer of Baltimore, Kristen Bauer Zaks of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Gregory T. Bauer of Reston, Va.; and one brother, Frank M. Wojcicki of Annapolis.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 400 Benfield Road, Severna Park. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Junior League of Annapolis, 134 Holiday Court, Suite 306, Annapolis, MD 21401-7088.
