Faye E. Parris

July 11, 1954 – February 26, 2023

Faye Elaine Parris passed away on February 26 in Severna Park, Maryland at the age of 68.  Faye was born in Pearisburg, Virgina on July 11, 1954 to Elmen and Verona Quesinberry.  Faye grew up in Glen Burnie and Severna Park.  She graduated from Severna Park High and received a BA in French in 1976 from University of North Carolina.  Faye spoke fluent French and Spanish and planned to teach them but later decided to change careers to computer programming.  She graduated from Anne Arundel Community College in 1981 as class Valedictorian.  She received a BS in Computer Science from UMBC in 1985 and began working as a software engineer at Westinghouse in 1985.  Faye worked for Westinghouse, Northrop Grumman, Hughes STX, Raytheon, and other NASA contractors until 2014.  She received a MS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in 2008.

Faye loved singing and took voice lessons in high school.  As a teenager she toured Europe as part of a vocal group.  Later she was a member of the Severna Park Methodist Church choir.  She loved cats and had many of them, as well as a Pomeranian dog, "Little Red" that she ordered online after watching "The Osbornes" on TV.

Faye was known for her great sense of humor and sarcastic wit.  Her favorite hobbies were reading and knitting.  Faye faithfully watched the soap opera "The Young and the Restless" from high school until she became afflicted with dementia and had to move to Sunrise of Severna Park.

Faye received excellent and compassionate care at the Reminiscence unit of Sunrise of Severna Park.  Her family is very thankful to the Sunrise staff.

Faye is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kevin Parris of Severna Park; son Brian Parris, daughter-in- law Lyssa, and granddaughter Lazuli Faye, of Leesburg, VA; and sister Jean Traylor, and brother-in-law Jay Traylor of St Petersburg FLA.
