Ezra Lee Countiss, a resident of Odenton, Maryland, left us to be with the Lord on Monday, March 19, 2012. He was born July 9, 1933 in Pound, Virginia to the late Marvin and Flossie Countiss. He graduated from Christopher Gist High School and later earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering at Steed College of Technology in Johnson City, Tennessee. Upon graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for 2 years during 1956-1958. He was employed by Carr-Lowrey Glass Company in Baltimore for 35 years, retiring in July 1994. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, hunting, gardening and retirement.
He is survived by his wife Katheryn of 55 years; son, Ezra Jr. (Todd) and his wife Karen; daughter, Letitia (Tisha) and her husband Robert; grandchildren, Andrew and his wife RoseEllen, Patrick, Megan, Christopher and his wife Laura, Rebecca, Alexandra, Daniel, Anastasia, Shannon, Sean, Michelle and Rachel; great-grandchildren, Brady, Audrey and Camilla; sister, Jean and her husband Virgal Brewster. His brother, Glenn, preceded him in death. He was blessed with many, sisters- and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends who loved and respected him.
His grandsons and nephews will serve as honorary pall bearers.
A private family service will be held at Barranco's Funeral Home in Severna Park on Friday, March 23, 2012, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be directed to Dewey School Restoration Fund to aid in the effort of restoring his little two-room school into a community center where yearly September reunions convene and hosts all who ever attended there.
