Everett "Gene" Whitmore, 80, of Annapolis, MD died on July 4, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

Gene was born to his parents, Jesse and Madge Whitmore on July 12, 1930 in Baltimore, where he was also raised. He attended Baltimore City College, as well as, served in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. Mr. Whitmore was a co-owner of D & G Container, where he retired in 1996. In addition, Gene was a fire fighter with the Baltimore City Fire Department Engine 10 for 25 years. He was a member of the Mason's, Corinthian Lodge #93 for 44 years, as well as, the Elks Lodge # 2482 in Severna Park.

Mr. Whitmore is survived by his wife of ten years, Joyce Whitmore; his children, Mary Ann Thompson (Donald) of Burke, Va, Jo Ann Hamil (David) of Arnold, Christopher Whitmore of Baltimore, Jesse Whitmore (Kristi) or Arnold, Robert Bell of Baltimore, Charles Conigliaro (Francesca) of Clarksville, and Melissa Mosher (Quenton) of Greensboro, NC; his sister, Lois Fry (Fred) of Sudlersville, as well as, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00am with the interment to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Gardens in Elkridge, MD.
