Eva Mae Fogle Gustafson (Eve) passed away from Covid 19 on February 17th at age 90. Eve was born on April 7th, 1930 in Baltimore Maryland to Ruth and Earle Fogle, and grew up in the Waverly area of the city. She graduated from Eastern High School and Goucher College, teaching first grade in Baltimore City schools. Eve married Robert E. Gustafson in August 1953 and they moved to Severna Park to raise their family, enjoying life in the growing community on the Severn River. Eve earned a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Towson State Teachers College and went back to teaching in 1974, first at Benfield Elementary in the 5th grade and then at Jones Elementary teaching kindergarten until she retired in 1986. In retirement Eve was happy to travel, play tennis and enjoy her seven grandchildren who lived nearby. In addition to her love of children, Eve was a "people person" who loved to meet new people and to entertain. She was a role model to her family for her hospitality. Eve was a past member of the Severn River Garden Club, the American Association of University Women and the Friends of the Baltimore Opera. She was predeceased by her husband Bob in 2012, and is survived by her daughter Karen Royer (Robert) and son Matthew Gustafson (Susan) of Severna Park, and son Kirk Gustafson (Heidi) of Frederick. She also is survived by seven grandchildren John (Kristina), James and Mark (Keano) Royer and Michael, Kelly, Robert and Elizabeth Gustafson, and one great-grandson Callum Royer. A service for the family will be held at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery when Covid restrictions are eased. Eve and her family were very appreciative of the love and care extended to Eve by the staff at Sunrise of Severna Park for all of the nine years that Eve lived there.
