Eugene Edward Polm, 77, of Severn and formerly of Arnold and Pasadena, died of dementia May 25 at Millennium Health and Rehabilitation Center at Marley Station in Glen Burnie after two-year illness.
Born Feb. 14, 1928, and reared in Oil City, Pa., Mr. Polm earned a bachelor of science degree in education from State Teacher's College in California, Pa. and later earned a master's degree as well.
Mr. Polm served in the Navy during World War II .
He worked for the Anne Arundel County school system, teaching industrial arts and writing a career education program. He was once named Maryland State Teacher of the Year in Technology and was a member of the Maryland State Teachers Association and the Anne Arundel County Teachers Association.
An avid historian, he is interests included fine woodworking, making furniture, reading, classical music and jazz and travel.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Jane Polm of Severn; three sons, Richard Polm of Arnold, Edward Polm of Pasadena and Robert Polm of Baltimore; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park, where funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
