Ethel McLean

Ethel Marie McLean, 86, of Severna Park, died of kidney failure April 20 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a six-month illness.

Born Jan. 25, 1920, and reared in Cumberland, Mrs. McLean was married in 1942 to William Hearn McLean who died Sept. 25, 2004. She moved to Severna Park in 1953 and then to Arnold in 1963. She moved to Sunrise Assisted Living in Severna Park in 2004.

She worked as a senior telephone operator at Fort George G. Meade and was head of the savings department at the former Farmers National Bank in Annapolis until retiring in 1975.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and enjoyed golf and gardening. She spent 30 winters in Sarasota, Fla.

Surviving are one son, William Hearn McLean III of Westminster; one daughter, Sheila McLean Marzucco of Buffalo, N.Y.; one sister, Eleanor Wilson of Silver Spring; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Stephanie Ann Marzucco.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. May 5 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Crownsville. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
