Ethel Heney (nee Blundell), 87, a resident of Annapolis, Maryland, died on January 20 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a brief illness.

Ethel was born to her parents, Sarah and Ernest Blundell, on January 21, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. She spent her childhood in Gerritsen Beach, NY. She worked in Coney Island Hospital and worked on the assembly line making 20mm shells for the Navy during World War II. She met and married her loving husband, Richard Heney, and became a homemaker. They have been together for nearly 75 years, and married for 67 years. They lived on Long Island, New York, West Palm Beach, Florida, and Ocean Pines, Maryland before settling down in Annapolis.

She loved her family and her friends. She was an avid sports fan and spent much of her time cheering on her great grandsons' soccer and lacrosse teams.

Ethel is preceded in death by her loving parents, her beloved sister, Cecelia, and her brother, John. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard; her daughter, Janet Bielak, and son-in-law, Stanley Bielak of Annapolis; her grand-daughter, Christine Crabbs, and her husband, Benjamin Crabbs of Arnold; her great grand children, Nicholas and Alexander of Arnold. She is survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation from 9 am-10 am on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at St. Andrew by the Bay Church, 701 College Pkwy, Annapolis, MD 21409. A Memorial Mass will begin at 10 AM following the visitation on Tuesday at St. Andrew by the Bay. Burial will be in MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care Network of Maryland (501c3), 846 Ritchie Highway, #2LL, Severna Park, Maryland 21146.
