Esther Marrero passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 19, 2015.

Born February 15, 1918 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Ventura and Manuela Lebron. She grew up in New York City where she attended Hunter College.

Esther was the widow of LTC John G Marrero, a World War II veteran and Head of Government & Politics department at Shippensburg University. During her life as a military wife, Esther was involved in many activities including teaching English at the University of Tokyo, Japan and she received a degree in Ikebana flower arranging. She also enjoyed volunteer work as a Red Cross staff nurse and a Girl Scout leader.

At age 50, Esther returned to school to complete her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Education. She taught Spanish and Reading at Carlisle Area School District and taught at Carlisle Montessori Academy.

Esther remained a steadfast supporter of Education, Politics, Latin Culture, and Patriotism. She lived life to the fullest, enjoying ocean sailing, dancing, music, and theater.

Esther is survived by 2 daughters, Judith Lee and husband Owen of Annapolis, MD and Jane Robinson and husband Edgar of Carlisle, PA, and son-in-law Richard Brill of Annapolis, MD; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by her daughter, Julia Brill and husband, John Marrero.

Esther had an amazing spirit and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 199 Duke of Gloucester Street, in Annapolis. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
