Esther Hopper
Esther S. Hopper, 86, a resident of Severna Park for 44 years, died of heart failure Aug. 2 at the Severna Park Center Genesis HealthCare after a brief illness.
Born June 11, 1921, in Denison, Ohio, Mrs. Hopper was reared in Uhrichsville, Ohio.
She worked for the Anne Arundel County Board of Education as a special education teacher for 24 years until her retirement.
She served as a deacon at the Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park, where she was also a member of the Esther Circle of Woods, the Presbyterian Women, the adult and handbell choirs and Minister to the Congregation.
Her interests included knitting, singing, dancing, cooking and traveling to West Virginia and Williamsburg, Va.
Surviving are her husband, Theodore R. Hopper; two daughters, Lee Hopper Laque of Severna Park and Martha Hopper Clayton of Stevensville; and eight grandchildren. She was the mother of the late J. Bradford Hopper.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, Severna Park. Burial is private.
