Erman Orlando (Lanny) Dill, Jr. passed away on August 13, 2026, at his home in Cypress Creek with his family at his side. He was born February 12, 1940, in Annapolis to the late Erman O. (Mike) Dill, Sr. and Mary R. Dill.

He grew up in Severna Park; he attended the local schools and participated in Cub and Boy Scouts. He rowed and swam in the Creek with his local relatives. He played Green Hornets football. He was a young volunteer with the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Department.

Lanny enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1961 and served his 4 years on Ocracoke and Hatteras Islands.

He married Mary Edna (Appleton) in 1962. Upon returning home from his Coast Guard duties, he joined his father and worked in the family plumbing business from 1965 to his retirement in 2005.

He loved growing flowers and vegetables, working on his fishponds, and woodworking. As a young family with two daughters, they enjoyed camping trips and visiting historic sites. He also volunteered on the Lady Maryland schooner (Maryland Living Classrooms) and was a Woods Church Rehabber. As a retiree he took train and bus trips and loved cruises (especially the buffets).

He is survived by his wife Mary Edna, two daughters Mary Pitta and Susan (Tony) McConkey and six grandchildren Charles and Andrew Pitta, Camille Lehr, and George, Edna, and Liam McConkey. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Erma MacWilliams.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maryland Living Classrooms, Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company, or your favorite local charity.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday August 22, 2026 from 10:00am-12:00pm with a service to follow at 12:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
