Erik grew up in northern Baltimore, Maryland, near Hampden, where he was raised by his loving parents, Jill and Bill. From an early age, Erik learned the value of hard work from his parents, who instilled in him a strong work ethic that remained a defining part of his character throughout his life. As a young man, he was always working—mowing lawns, babysitting, and taking on any opportunity to earn a living.

After high school, Erik began working at the Bike Shop in Glen Burnie, where he developed lifelong friendships and cultivated his passion for BMX riding and mountain biking. Known for his adventurous spirit and impressive bike skills, he embraced every opportunity for adventure and carried that enthusiasm throughout his life.

Erik later spent many years at Metropolitan Bath and Tile, where his craftsmanship and dedication earned him the role of lead mechanic. His artistic eye for tile work, attention to detail, and genuine care for his customers made him highly respected by coworkers and clients alike. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel comfortable, often winning over not only homeowners but their pets as well.

Following his time at Metropolitan Bath and Tile, Erik partnered with his longtime friend Rimmel to establish SSC. Taking the leap into business ownership was a source of great pride, and he poured his heart into building a successful company. He cared deeply about his employees and was committed to creating a workplace where everyone felt valued and supported.

A gifted craftsman, Erik found joy in woodworking and creating beautiful, lasting pieces for his family and friends. Whether building custom cabinetry, handcrafted furniture, or unique gifts, he approached every project with creativity, patience, and pride. He especially enjoyed attending woodworking shows, always searching for beautiful woods and new tools to inspire his next project.

Erik also found peace and happiness on the water. He loved kayaking, often setting out on ambitious adventures throughout the Chesapeake Bay, and later found even greater joy aboard his beloved boat, Chessie. Sharing time on the water with family and friends became one of his favorite pastimes and created countless cherished memories.

In 2002, Erik met the love of his life, and together they built a beautiful life in Annapolis. They married in 2006 and purchased a fixer-upper that Erik transformed with his remarkable craftsmanship and vision. Room by room, he turned their house into a home, adding not only beauty but lasting memories for his family.

Above all else, Erik was devoted to his family. He was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Leighann, lovingly known as "Bub," and his son, Dylan, affectionately called "D-Man." He treasured every moment spent teaching them new skills, sharing stories, creating traditions, and making them laugh. His children were the center of his world.

Throughout life, Erik experienced both profound joy and heartbreaking loss, including the passing of his parents, Jill and Bill, and his father-in-law, with whom he shared a close bond. Through every challenge, he remained resilient, finding strength in his family, his friendships, and the simple pleasures of life.

Erik had an extraordinary gift for bringing people together. Whether working alongside friends, enjoying time on the water, gathering around a campfire, or welcoming people into his home, he formed deep and lasting friendships that spanned decades. His kindness, generosity, sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and unwavering loyalty left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Erik will be remembered not only for the beautiful things he built with his hands, but for the love, laughter, friendships, and memories he created throughout his life. His legacy lives on through his beloved family, his many lifelong friends, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
