Emily Spire Steinberg died at the age of 88 on March 11, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward (Ned) Steinberg, who died after 62 years of marriage. Emily was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Burton Spire of Mt. Rainier, Maryland. After graduating from Hyattsville High School, she attended the University of Maryland where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was a former Alter Guild member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in College Park.
Presently she was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church in Crownsville, Maryland. She formerly lived in Chartwell in Severna Park, before moving to Heritage Harbour. She was a member of Chartwell Country Club and the Hospital Auxiliary for Prince George Hospital.
Emily, known as Meme by her friends and family is survived by her daughter Carol Swain of Severna Park, two grandsons, John Swain of Baltimore and his wife Dawn, and Todd Swain of Annapolis and his wife Bethany. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Camden Swain of Baltimore and Drew Swain of Annapolis.
Memorial Service will be held at Saint Paul's Church 1505 Crownsville Road, Crownsville, Maryland on Thursday, March 15th at 11:00 am.
