Emilio A. Partida, 89, a long-time resident of Arnold, passed away on July 2, 2017 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born May 22, 1928 in Chino, California to the late Jesse and David Partida, he was the youngest of five children. He attended the University of LaVerne graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. He served in the United States Air Force, where he attended weather school and met his future wife, Elizabeth. He was stationed in Korea during the Korean War and, upon returning to the states, was assigned to Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. After leaving the USAF, Emilio served as an educator the rest of his professional life. He first came to the Arnold area as part of the Anne Arundel County Board of Education and was then recruited by Anne Arundel County Community College to launch their Data Processing/Computer department. He remained on staff at AACC for the duration of his professional career, managing and teaching many computer classes, for which he had a great passion. He also taught computer courses for Control Data Institute.
He was a long time member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where he was involved in the Cancer Novena Group. He enjoyed his family, walking the mall daily, dining out with friends, and watching Orioles and Ravens games.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Elizabeth A. Partida and his brothers, Tony Partida of Ontario, CA and David Partida of Pomona, CA. He is survived by his four children: David Partida of Sarasota, FL, Deborah Andersen of Glen Burnie, Karen Ong of Davidsonville, and Kim Partida-Runge of Severn; his siblings, Paul Partida of Chino, CA and Sophia Gonzales of Ontario, CA; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 1pm in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park. Interment will follow at Maryland Veteran Cemetery in Crownsville, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd, Crownsville, MD 21032. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
