Elvira E. Ford, 77, a resident of Severna Park for more than 40 years, died of respiratory complications Oct. 13 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 3, 1929, and reared in Hause, Germany, Mrs. Ford was a World War II bride and the widow of Richard L. Ford.
She retired as a cafeteria manager from Anne Arundel County public schools.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 175 and enjoyed gardening, yard work, crocheting and cooking. She also loved her Schnauzers and babysat for her neighborhood.
Surviving are two sons, Frederick J. Ford of Denver, Pa., and Steven Ford of Catonsville; one sister, Anna Kil of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was the mother of the late Norbert R. Ford.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery.
