Elva Mae Lloyd, 90, of Severna Park, MD passed away peacefully with her daughter and son by her side on October 17, 2018.
Elva Mae was born on November 20, 1927 in Baltimore to Walter and Margaret Smith. She was raised in Maryland and lived in a number of places before residing in Severna Park. She was married to Nelford Lloyd on August 28, 1948, graduated from Towson State Teacher's College, and later received a Masters in Library Science. She spent her career teaching elementary school and later as a media specialist in the Anne Arundel County school system. She loved helping children achieve, particularly those to whom learning did not come easily.
Elva Mae was an avid sports fan and was a passionate follower of the Baltimore Colts and later the Ravens. She enjoyed gardening and cruising the Chesapeake Bay with her parents and was always happy on the water. She was an avid reader, who in her later years also enjoyed puzzle making and her doll collection.
Elva Mae was preceded in death by her loving husband Nelford who passed away February 3, 1966. She is survived by her devoted children, Linda Kiple (Jerry) of Pawleys Island South Carolina and Tom Lloyd (Ann) of Severna Park; grandchildren Brandi Bougher of Pawleys Island, Emily Lloyd of New York City, Sarah Lloyd of New York City, Elizabeth Lloyd of Washington, DC, Reese Kiple of New Port Richey, Florida and Todd Kiple of Sykesville, Maryland; and her great grandchildren Brett and Lauren Bougher of Pawleys Island.
