Elsie Phipps
Elsie May Baher Phipps, 84, of Arnold and formerly of Catonsville, died of complications of Alzheimer's disease March 20 at Crofton Convalescent Center after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Phipps was born and reared in Baltimore. In 1937 she was married to David Louis Phipps Sr., who died in 2000.
She lived in Catonsville from 1976 to 1998 when she moved to Arnold to live with her daughter's family. She was a resident of the Kris-Leigh Assisted Living community in Severna Park for 10 months before moving to the Crofton Convalescent Center in September 2004.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Baltimore, and participated in several bowling leagues over the years. She enjoyed playing bingo and shopping with her daughter.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, where services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge.
Surviving are three children, David L. Phipps Jr. and Sherry L. Arigo, both of Arnold, and Steven E. Phipps of Hampstead; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
