At 4:00pm, Saturday the 2nd of October 2010, Elsie Margaret Martin died at Anne Arundle Medical Center due to an onset of a sudden illness which admitted her into the hospital the previous Monday.
Elsie was born in Frankfurt, Germany on the 2ndof December 1947.
She graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1966, and attended University of Maryland Baltimore Hospital to become an X-ray Technician. After graduating in 1968, she was employed at UM Baltimore Hospital and later became a Radiation-Therapist in the Cancer-Treatment Center. During the time she was employed at University of Maryland, she dated Harold Martin, an intelligence-agent (in training) for the US Army at that time. After Hal left the Army, Elsie and he married in 1970, until her husband also suddenly died, due to a rapid onset of an illness in 1999. Elsie worked in the loan department for PNC Bank in Annapolis, and later became certified as a nurse's assistant, and went to work for the Anne Arundel County Health-Department until her demise.
She lived in Arnold, Maryland and is survived by her daughter, Lauren Crista Martin, her son, Stephen Andrew Martin, her mother, Irmgard Margaret Hassenstein and her brother, Rudolph Carl Hassenstein Jr.
Memorial services will be held on October 9, at the United Church of Christ of Annapolis at 11:00am. A reception will follow immediately after the service in the church fellow-ship hall. On the following Monday, the immediate family and close friends, will place Elsie's remains, to rest, with those of her late husband's, Harold Martin.
