Elsie Jean Knight, 78, of Severna Park, died of cancer Sept. 4 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie after a brief illness.

Born Sept. 8, 1927, in Wellsburg, W.Va., Mrs. Knight was married to Alfred John Knight in 1948 in Weirton, W.Va., and moved to Severna Park in 1971. Mr. Knight is now deceased.

A homemaker, she was an active member of Severna Park Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.

Surviving are two sons, Dan E. Knight of Abingdon in Harford County and Douglas E. Knight of Olathe, Kan.; one sister, Mary Shook of Torrance, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Her son, David E. Knight, died in 1963.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Severna Park Baptist Church, 506 Benfield Road. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville.
