Elmira C. North died peacefully on July 5, 2014 holding the hand of her granddaughter, Nicole Melograna. She was almost 94 years old.
She lived much of her childhood in Linthicum, MD and took a daily train into Baltimore to attend high school at Institute of Notre Dame. She later attended and graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art. During the war she did drawing for the Glen L. Martin Company. She married George R. "Bob" North, the love of her life. They had two children, George "Joey" K. North (deceased) and Pamela L. North. She and her husband also took in a young man who escaped from Hungary during the revolution. She was an artist, an art teacher, a homemaker, a great cook, and the best parent, ever. She lived in Severna Park, MD for many years and attended the Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela North and her husband J. Douglas Sanner, her granddaughter, Nicole E. Melograna and her husband Dr. Frank S. Melograna, and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit on Friday July 11, 2014 from 9:30am - 11:00am at the Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Services will held at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel following the viewing. Interment in the Baltimore National Cemetery in Baltimore, MD at a later date.
