Elmer "Pat" Labarre, 70, a former resident of Glen Burnie, passed away on November 5, 2010 at his home in Swann Keys, DE, surrounded by his family and loved ones, after an eight month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Pat was born to his parents, Elmer and Margaret LaBarre on April 23, 1940 in Glen Burnie, MD, where he was also raised. A 1958 graduate of Glen Burnie High school, Pat went on to become a firefighter with the Baltimore City Fire Department. In addition to his 33 years of employment with the Fire Department, Mr. LaBarre also served in the Maryland National Guard.

Pat was a member of the Ocean City Elks Lodge, where he was named "Elk of the Year". He had a passion for cooking, often competing in competitions, many of which he won, including the St. Mary's Oyster Festival in Leonardtown, MD. In addition, Pat enjoyed boating and golf. He was devoted to his family and friends.

Mr. LaBarre is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy Garriques of Swann Keys in Delaware; his daughters, Dana LaBarre and Valerie Goss; his sons, David LaBarre, Joey Hyson, Marty Hyson, Mark LaBarre, Randy Hyson, and Nicky Hyson; his sisters, Peggy Burkiewa (Leo), Lois Middleton, Joan Valenti (Buddy), and Bonnie Lugwig; his brother, Ron (Myrna); as well as, nineteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Eduvigen.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-9pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 10:30 am with the interment to follow at Glen Haven Cemetery in Glen Burnie, MD.
