Ellen S. Mullen, 83, of Severna Park, MD died of natural causes at Baltimore Washington Medical Center on Dec. 14, 2008.

She was born Ellen S. Stewart on May 4, 1925 in Baltimore, MD, where she was also raised. She married Edward T. Mullen in 1963 and they moved to Severna Park in 1968. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Mullen worked as a telephone operator with Stein Brothers and Boyce in Baltimore from 1963-1973 and later for the former Anne Arundel General Hospital in Annapolis, MD. She loved gardening, working outdoors, playing cards, trivial pursuit, and other board games. She enjoyed traveling, especially cruises to Aruba and spending time in Marco Island, where she spent numerous winters.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Edward T. Mullen of Severna Park, MD; her daughter, Barbara M. Shortridge of Pasadena, MD; two sons, Timothy B. Mullen of Hampstead, MD and Dennis J. Mullen of Baltimore, MD; her sister, Doris Troy of Tennessee; as well as, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation at Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-8 pm. Private services and interment will be held at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake 445 Defense Hwy.
