Ella "Ellie" Neily, 91, a 10 year resident of the Ginger Cove retirement center, died October 22 of natural causes in the Ginger Cove Health Center.

Mrs. Neily was born Ella Kalning on October 28, 1916 in Bedminster, PA and was raised in rural Bucks County, PA. As a young woman, she moved to Baltimore, MD to train as a Registered Nurse at Union Memorial Hospital.

She married her husband of 41 years, Herbert H. Neily, Jr., in 1941. They moved to the then-new community of West Severna Park in 1956.

She enjoyed boating and fishing on the Severn River and Chesapeake Bay. Mrs. Neily was a member of the Hollyberry and Severn River Garden Clubs, winning many awards for artistic flower arrangements and horticulture.

Mrs. Neily was an acclaimed cook and traveled throughout her retirement.

As a volunteer in the studio of Annapolis artist Bobbie Burnett, Mrs. Neily applied her creative talents to the production of stained glass artwork as part of the "Caring Collection", an organization that donates its proceeds to area hospitals for oncology research.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert H. Neily, Jr., in 1982. She is survived by her son, Herbert "Bert" H. Neily, III of Raleigh, NC.

A reception will be held in the Friendship Hall at Ginger Cove Retirement Center, 4000 River Crescent Drive, Annapolis on Sunday November 9 at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will be private.
