IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth "Tina"
J. Nickerson
July 21, 1934 – May 2, 2021
Elizabeth Julia Nickerson (Tina), passed away peacefully at her home on May 2, 2021. Tina was born on July 21, 1934 in New York City. She was the 2nd of eight children born to Elizabeth (McKenna) Fargis and George Bertrand Fargis. She grew up in New Rochelle, NY, attending Holy Family School and The Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, CT. Tina graduated from Berkeley Secretarial School.
In 1954, she married Thomas A. Russell. Together they had five children. Throughout her marriage she moved many times before settling in Severna Park, MD. After raising her five children her compassion for people lead her to working in the health field at Anne Arundel Hospital, The Providence Center and several private medical practices. In 1984 she married Jerome H. Nickerson who shared her love of sailing.
Tina loved family traditions, gardening, playing bridge, reading the newspaper, crossword puzzles and chocolate. In the summer, her favorite thing to do was pack a lunch and head to the beach or a pool for the day. She had a wicked sense of humor, was a lovely hostess and was famous for her horrible driving. When she would meet people she would always enquire if they were in love. Tina always thought of others first.
Tina is predeceased by her son Tommy Russell, her husband Jerry Nickerson, her first husband Tom Russell, her brother George and her sister Josepha. Tina is survived by her two sisters Judy and Mary and three brothers Paul, James and Charlie. She leaves behind four loving children and their families..Betsie Russell, Laura Westervelt (Bill), Billy Russell (Pam), Christine Melendez (Izzy) and step sons William and Jay Nickerson. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Lindsay Meagher(Matt), Kyle and Brendan Russell and Lexie, Tommy, Emily and Russell Melendez. We are grateful to her many caregivers at Assisted Living Well Compassionate Care in Millersville, Maryland.
