Liz was born January 14, 1935 in Raleigh NC to parents Matthew and Sarah Womble. She obtained a one year commercial degree from the University of North Carolina following graduation from Needham Broughton High School in 1953. Her most recent employ, 1972-86, was at the US House of Representatives as administrative assistant on the Subcommittees on Energy Conservation and Power, and Energy and Commerce, working for members of the House, Joe Evans, Ed Markey, John Dingell, or Richard Ottinger.
She was a member of Belvedere Yacht Club in Arnold for 36 years where she enjoyed sailing trips on Southern Lady with members of Belvedere as well as with fellow members of the Chesapeake Sailing Club for which she was also active and assumed many of its operations. A pillar at Belvedere she was Secretary and grounds keeper at the time of her death. She volunteered in many ways over the years to support the Club.
A resident of Oakleigh Forest she managed the common grounds for the last 20 years. A leading supporter of the Garden Club she enjoyed decorating the community every Christmas, doing greens and making sure all 158 homes got luminaries for Christmas Eve.
She was Liz, mom, grandmom and great grandmom to a large family made great by the many times she brought it together at birthdays, Christmas, et al. She enjoyed getting on Facebook every morning to see the grandchildren's postings of their children. As matriarch she also put together a family vacation every year or every other year at the Outer Banks or wherever she could find a house big enough.
She is survived by husband of 43 years Frank Cingel, by five children Sandra Beatty of Easton, Karyn Gardner of Westminster, Teri Malone of Johnstown NY, Guy Turlington and Keith Cingel of Severna Park; eleven grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Visitation will be on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park. Interment will be private.
There will also be a remembrance at Belvedere Yacht Club in Arnold on Sunday October 2 at 1:00.
