Elizabeth "Betsy" Briscoe Bacot, 79, a resident of Severna Park for 53 years, died on October 19, 2011 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie after a brief illness.
She was born on December 17, 1931, was born and raised in Prince Frederick, graduating from St. Mary's College Southern Maryland. She has lived in Severna Gardens and the Round Bay Community.
Mrs. Bacot worked as a teacher and administrative assistant for close to 50 years at St. Martin's in-the-Field Day School.
She was an active member of St. Martin's in-the-Field Episcopal Church, where she was coordinator of the Flower Guild and Ushers; Past President of Hollyberry Garden Club; Past President of KIWIVES; Round Bay Bridge Ladies; Longtime Member of Round Bay Community Association; and member of the Anne Arundel County Concert Association. She sent many thoughtful mailings of cards to family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian G. Bacot, who died on January 24, 1991; parents, Dr. Everard Briscoe and Elizabeth "Betty" Briscoe; and her two brothers, John and Dudley Briscoe.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Bacot Erickson (Steven Leif) of Modesto, CA and Ann Bacot Edwards (David) of Severna Park, MD; one son, Marshall N. Bacot (Catherine Y.) of Linthicum, MD; grandchildren, Theresa Hamilton, Tina Schurr, Edward Hamilton, George S. Edwards, Sam B. Edwards, Alison O. Edwards, Julia Y. Bacot, and Matthew T. Bacot; and great grandchildren, David Hamilton and Malaia Bacot.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, October 23 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at St. Martin's in-the-Field Episcopal Church, 375 Benfield Road, Severna Park, MD 21146.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 24th at 10 am at St. Martin's in-the-Field Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery in Port Republic, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin's Day School, 375 Benfield Road, Severna Park, Severna Park, MD 21146 or to American Heart Association, Memorials Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
